Cape Fear Museum is at 814 Market St. The primary exhibit is Cape Fear Stories, which focuses on the history, natural science and culture of the Lower Cape Fear region. Other features include the skeletal remains of a prehistoric giant ground sloth; a diorama of the Civil War Battle of Fort Fisher; a scale model of Wilmington's waterfront circa 1863; and the interactive Michael Jordan Discovery Gallery. Watercraft of the type residents have used to explore Cape Fear can be viewed in the Maritime Pavilion. The surrounding park features interactive exhibits and native gardens.
