Wilmington Railroad Museum, 505 Nutt St., commemorates the importance of railroads in local and national history. Exhibits include Wilmington and Weldon Railroad artifacts dating from 1840, as well as items from the Atlantic Coast Line and other railroads. A steam locomotive, boxcar and caboose can be boarded. The Children's Hall offers toy trains and hands-on exhibits.
$9; $8 (ages 60+ and military with ID); $5 (ages 2-12).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-5, Memorial Day-Labor Day; Mon.-Sat. 10-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31.
