Imagination Station Science & History Museum, 224 E. Nash St., is a hands-on science museum geared toward children. Exhibits allow visitors to race against a cheetah, explore the laws of physics and observe reptiles up close. The site also is home to the North Carolina Museum of the Coastal Plain, where history exhibits spotlight the region's past. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$5; $4.50 (military with ID); free (ages 0-3).
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 1-4. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
