If you can only make one stop for eastern-style barbecue & crispy fried chicken while in NC, go to Parker's. So worth the detour off I-95!
AAA Inspector Notes
Classic. Since 1946, this well-known eatery serves up tangy Eastern Carolina pork barbecue and juicy fried chicken. Family-style meals come with sides such as Brunswick stew, hush puppies and coleslaw. Fans of fried chicken livers will want to try Parker's plump version. Lending to the nostalgic atmosphere is pine paneling and servers in white aprons and crisp paper hats. Bring cash; credit cards are not accepted.
