Classic. Since 1946, this well-known eatery has served Eastern Carolina pork barbecue, for the uninitiated, tangy with vinegar and pepper sauce on the side, and juicy fried chicken to crowds. Family-style meals come with sides such as Brunswick stew, hushpuppies and tangy coleslaw. Fans of fried chicken livers will want to try Parker's plump version. Lending to the nostalgic atmosphere are knotty pine paneling and servers in white aprons and crisp paper hats. Credit cards are not accepted.
