Historic Hope Plantation, 4.5 mi. w. on SR 308 to 132 Hope House Rd., is the restored early 19th-century mansion of David Stone, statesman and governor. It has Georgian and Federal elements and is furnished with period pieces. Also on the grounds are an 18th-century garden; an herb garden; a kitchen garden; and the King-Bazemore House, a rural plantation house.

Guided tours are available.

$11; $9 (ages 65+); $6 (ages 1-18 and students with ID).

Daily 10-4, Apr.-Nov.; by appointment rest of year. Last tour departs 30 minutes before closing. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
