Children's Museum of Winston-Salem is at 390 S. Liberty St. This hands-on museum features interactive, themed galleries where kids can shop for groceries in a supermarket, use oversize blocks to build forts and race cars, explore playhouses in a storybook forest, send doughnuts down a conveyor belt and climb a beanstalk to the second floor. Exhibits focus on literature, storytelling and the arts. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$7; $6 (ages 62+ and military with ID); $3 (home-schooled children, Tues.-Fri., Labor Day-Memorial Day); free (ages 0-11 months and educators with home school association ID).
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-4, Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-5. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
