Salem Tavern Museum and Barn are at 736 Main St. and part of the Old Salem Museums & Gardens complex. The tavern was built in 1784 and accommodated guests until 1850. The gentlemen's dining rooms, bedrooms and kitchen are furnished in period. George Washington was a guest for two nights in 1791. Behind the tavern is an 1840s heavy-timbered barn.
Two-stop ticket (to any two museums on grounds of Old Salem Museums & Gardens) $18; $9 (ages 6-16); free (undergraduate college students with ID). All-in-one ticket (valid for two consecutive days) Tues.-Sat. $27; $13 (ages 6-16), Sun. $22; $11 (ages 6-16); free (undergraduate college students with ID).
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 9:30-4:30, Sun. 1-4:30. Closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
