AAA Inspector Notes
Custom furnishings and clever artwork fill this charming high-rise which is a work of art in itself. The R.J. Reynolds Building was the design inspiration for the Empire State Building. The metal details and terrazzo floors at the bank of elevators are stunning. Hotel rooms occupy floors two through six, each outfitted with posh bedding, a large workspace with ample charging outlets, and a minibar stocked with gourmet snacks. In each closet, you'll find seersucker robes and a yoga mat. The majority of bathrooms feature walk-in showers. The one-bedroom suites and spa kings have an expanded, glamorous bathroom with a deep soaking tub and separate oversize shower. The elegant lobby serves as a living room for the hotel, with seating nooks and a community table. Coffee and tea are served each morning, and wine and light bites are featured during a social hour each evening. You have to check out the rec room in the basement, equipped with a small basketball court, bowling alley and adult-size slide. The valet parking stand is located at the Main Street entrance. If you prefer to self-park, the staff will direct you to a nearby pay-to-park garage.
