Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge extends about 31 mi. along the Souris River; headquarters is n. of US 52 at Foxholm via CR 11, or w. off US 83 via CR 6. Its 32,089 acres provide a nesting area for ducks and other wildlife as well as a resting and feeding area for shorebirds during migrations. White-tailed deer, Hungarian partridges, ring-necked pheasants and sharp-tailed grouse are common; tundra swans can be seen in October.

Hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities are permitted.
