The Miners' Museum is 1.6 km (1 mi.) w. via Commercial and South sts. to 17 Museum St. Museum exhibits focus on the geology of coal; mining methods, techniques and equipment; and the development of the coal industry. Interactive kiosks provide information about the communities and history of Cape Breton's mining industry.

Retired miners lead guided tours of the underground mine Ocean Deeps Colliery beneath the museum as well as a miners' village with a renovated miner's house and company store. During summer months The Men of the Deeps, a choir of working and retired miners, perform at the theater. Videos about mining, an underground garden and art by Jack Lily MacLellan complete the experience.

Visitors must don hard hats and slickers on the mine tour.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.
