Public Gardens are bounded by S. Park St., Sackville St., Spring Garden Rd. and Summer St. Covering 7 hectares (17 acres), the gardens opened in 1867. They are considered to be among the finest examples of Victorian gardens in North America. Tree-shaded gravel walks wind among the flower beds, fountains, ponds and shrubs. Concerts and guided tours are available.
Bringing pets, cycling, jogging and smoking in the gardens are prohibited.
Daily 8 a.m.-half hour before dusk, Apr.-Nov. (weather permitting). Guided tours are given Wed. at 10, mid-June through Aug. 31; otherwise by appointment. Concerts are presented Sun. at 2, June 1 to mid-Sept. Allow 30 minutes minimum.
