Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park is off Hwy. 102 exit 11, then s. on Hwy. 2 to 149 Creighton Rd. The park consists of 40 hectares (99 acres) of natural woodland with a large variety of animals and birds, most native to Nova Scotia or North America. More than 3 dozen species of ducks and geese live in the park, while hundreds of others come to nest or rest while migrating. The Creighton Forest Environment Centre, housed in three buildings, contains photographs and interactive exhibits, including a working beehive, describing wildlife and their habitat. Displays enhanced by sound effects portray environments as a forest community. The Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre provides displays about waterfowl and wetlands and their importance in the environment. A 10-hectare (25-acre) picnic area with tables, shelters, running water and a large playground is on the premises. Guided tours of two wetland trails are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
