K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre & Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens is off University Ave. on the campus of Acadia University. The 2-hectare (6-acre) botanical gardens contain nine habitats from the Acadia Forest region, including a sand barrens, a coniferous woodland and a marsh. Interpretive signs provide details about native plants and endangered species. A glassed-in winter garden and a medicinal and food garden also are on the grounds.
The science center features greenhouses, a conservatory and botanical laboratories.
Nature trails and picnic areas are available.
