AAA Inspector Notes
Built by author and entrepreneur, Elbert Hubbard, as a retreat for visitors to the local Arts and Crafts colony. This hotel features original and reproduction furnishings from that design movement. Thoughtful restoration lets visitors have a glimpse of yesteryear with hardwood floors and period millwork in each guest room. Rooms are situated on former sleeping porches and include windows that still open. The spacious bathrooms in the main inn feature double vanities, jetted bathtubs and vintage-style tile. Rooms in the cottage tend to be smaller. An immaculately restored Alexis Fourier mural wraps around the lobby walls, and trademarks of the Roycroft movement, like the distinctive cross and orb mark, can be found everywhere. Smoke free premises. 28 units. 2-3 stories, interior corridors.
