Rufino Tamayo Museum of Pre-Hispanic Art (Museo Rufino Tamayo de Arte Prehispanico) is at Av. José María Morelos #503, 3 blks. n.w. of Plaza Principal. Housed in a restored, 16th-century colonial mansion, it features the private collection of artist Rufino Tamayo, which he donated to his native city. On display are artifacts from Teotihuacán, Nayarit state, and the Olmec, Mayan, Totonac and Aztec civilizations. Figurines, sculptures and other works are handsomely mounted in a series of brightly colored rooms. Exhibit information is in Spanish.
