National Museum of the United States Air Force is off Springfield Pike at Wright Field on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Said to be the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world, it features more than 400 aerospace vehicles and missiles along with thousands of personal artifacts, photographs and documents. The museum showcases the early days of military flight to today's war on terrorism.

The collection includes the B-29 Bockscar that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan, during World War II; Air Force One used by all presidents from Kennedy through Clinton; a B-2 stealth bomber; and NASA's first Crew Compartment Trainer, which aided in astronaut training. Visitors will find out how astronauts trained for their missions and get a detailed look at what their living quarters were like aboard the shuttle. Movies are shown in a digital 3-D theater, and special events are held throughout the year.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 4 hours minimum.
