Akron Zoo is off Euclid Ave. at 500 Edgewood Ave. Among the zoo's 700 animals are endangered Golden lion tamarins, rare red pandas, Humboldt penguins, snow leopards, jaguars and ruffed lemurs. The interactive Tiger Valley exhibit includes Sumatran tigers, sloth bears and lions. Grizzly Ridge features grizzly bears, bald eagles, otters, red wolves, coyotes and an aviary. Komodo dragons and the Journey to the Reef exhibit are among the favorites at Komodo Kingdom, which includes an octopus and string ray touch tank. Children may feed the animals at the Ohio Farmyard Encounter or take a train ride. The Lehner Family Zoo Gardens include more than 7,000 plants and flowers. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
