Fort Laurens is .5 mi. w. of jct. I-77 and SR 212. This 81-acre park was the site of the only U.S. military fort in Ohio during the American Revolution. A museum includes displays about the Siege of Fort Laurens. The remains of the soldiers who died defending the fort are buried in a crypt in the museum wall and at the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot of the American Revolution. Fort Laurens is the trailhead for the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Picnicking is permitted.
Site free. Museum $3; $1 (ages 6-12).
Hours: Park open daily dawn-dusk. Museum open Wed.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. and holidays noon-5, May-Sept.; Fri.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, early Oct. to mid-Nov.
