AAA Editor Notes

The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education, 8401 Montgomery Rd. on the Rockwern Academy campus, was founded by Holocaust survivors and their families. CHHE features a permanent exhibit entitled Mapping Our Tears. The exhibit consists of three elements: a theater, artifacts and text panels related to the Holocaust, and The Cincinnati Hillel Judaica Collection. The theater has been designed to look like a 1930s-era attic and shows video testimonials from local Holocaust eyewitnesses. The historical items on display include jewelry hidden during the Holocaust and a concentration camp uniform among other items, all of which have been donated by Holocaust survivors and families residing in the Cincinnati region. The Judaica collection, a mix of local and international religious and cultural items, highlights the diversity of the Jewish community before and after the Holocaust. Public programs—including occasional talks by Holocaust survivors and their family members, World War II veterans and Holocaust scholars—are held throughout the year. Note: The exhibit is not recommended for children under age 10.
