The Warren G. Harding Home and Memorial is at 380 Mount Vernon Ave., 4 mi. w. of SR 23 on SR 95. It was from this house that Warren G. Harding conducted his “front porch” campaign in the 1920 presidential election. Visitors can see a portion of the more than 5,000 original objects in the Harding Collections, including White House items, clothing and furniture. From gaslight fixtures to original furnishings, the home was first restored in 1965 and will be restored to its 1920 appearance by 2020. In the back of the house, the former campaign press building, purchased for about $1,000 through the Sears Roebuck catalogue in 1920, contains a museum chronicling the Harding life and campaign and the construction of the Harding Memorial presidential gravesite. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
