U.S. Grant Birthplace Historic Site is at 1551 SR 232. Built in 1817, the modest cottage is where Civil War hero and 18th president of the United States Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822. The restored cottage is furnished with items owned by the Grant family as well as other period objects. Items include boots, a foot locker Grant took to West Point, a cigar case and a document case from the White House. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
