Perry's Cave Family Fun Center is .5 mi. s. of downtown at 979 Catawba Ave. The attraction offers 20-minute guided tours of a limestone cavern, which includes an underground lake. The cave was a source of drinking water for Commodore Perry's fleet during the War of 1812. The cave is a constant 50 degrees F. A gem mine, miniature golf course, wooden maze challenge, rock climbing wall and an antique car museum also are on the grounds. There is a butterfly house with more than 50 species of butterflies from around the world.
Warm clothing is recommended. The stairs leading into the cave are steep and narrow; wear good walking shoes.
