John Rankin House Historic Site is n. off US 52 at 6152 Rankin Hill Rd. This is the restored home of Rev. John Rankin, an early Ohio abolitionist. A station on the Underground Railroad, the house is reputedly the one in which Eliza, a character in “Uncle Tom's Cabin,” found refuge after crossing the ice on the Ohio River. Guided tours are available.

Hours: Wed.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, May-Oct. and by appointment year-round. Last tour begins 1 hour before closing. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
