The Butler Institute of American Art is at 524 Wick Ave. The museum was founded in 1919 by Youngstown industrialist Joseph G. Butler Jr. The collection focuses on American art from the Colonial period to the present, including a wing dedicated to digital art. Highlights include works by Mary Cassatt, John Copley, Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frederic Remington, Norman Rockwell, Charles Sheeler, Robert Vonnoh, Andy Warhol and Benjamin West.

The Trumbull branch (about 12 miles north in Howland Township) showcases works by international artists as well as contemporary sculptors and painters.

Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
