Cherokee Heritage Center, 21192 S. Keeler Dr., is at the site of the first Cherokee Female Seminary; three columns remain after fire destroyed the building in 1887. The center, operated by the Cherokee National Historical Society, includes three sites in addition to an archives and genealogy center that maintain historical records.

Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5, mid-June to mid-Sept.; Tues.-Sat. 9-5, rest of year. Closed first 2 weeks in Jan., Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
