LeFlore County Museum at Hotel Lowrey is at 303 Dewey Ave. Housed in a former hotel built in 1922, the museum's three floors include such exhibits as rune stones believed to have been carved by Viking explorers; artifacts from the Spiro Indian mound, built 700-1350; railroad relics; and 1960s memorabilia. The museum's collection includes Native American objects, farm implements, a display about the coal mining industry and military items from the Civil War to current operations. Rotating exhibits also are offered.
