Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, off Hwy. 6 at 9280 Airport Rd. in Mount Hope. “Canada's Flying Museum” chronicles the history of Canadian military aviation through a collection of more than 40 vintage aircraft from World War II to the jet age, most in flying condition. Included in the collection is the only operating Avro Lancaster in North America.
The museum, housed in a distinctive wing-shaped building, also contains interactive displays, flight simulators, a theater, memorabilia and aircraft restorations. Visitors can climb into the cockpit of a World War II trainer or jet fighter. Warbird rides are available for a fee. Flying exhibitions take place weekends (weather and crews permitting).
Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
