AAA Editor Notes
Mackenzie House, 82 Bond St., was the home of Toronto's first mayor and leader of the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837, an attempt to overthrow British rule and shift more civil authority to Canadians. The dwelling, presented to William Lyon Mackenzie by grateful citizens, is restored and furnished in mid-Victorian style. A functional, re-created 19th-century printing shop and the kitchen both offer demonstrations.
