Pros: Breakfast was made to order because I arrived after they'd closed up, but 10-15 minutes before the advertised cut-off. The scrambled eggs were scrumptious! There were kitchen facilities for our cooler pack and snacking, with a very nice common room and balcony. A walk through a trailer home community to a lovely beach provided an opportunity to meet friendly folk. All the staff present while we were there were professional, helpful, and accomodating, even though they were clearly pre-occupied with preparing for a wedding. Since we arrived late at night, we needed directions, and were assisted in getting there over a few phone calls, with instructions about how to check in. The process went smoothly when we got there, and we were able to make ourselves tea before turning in. The front desk finalized payment and provided assistance the next day as needed. There is a great steam room facility on site, without the time of day restrictions so often found in other places. The only recycling receptacles were in the kitchen area. The staff on hand were wonderful with our dog, and did everything possible to make us all feel welcome.
Cons: 1. Dog owners take note: When we called to confirm we would be arriving late with our quite well-mannered dog (as per our reservations), the owner became skittish, outlining strict on-site leash only rules (not a problem for us except for her fetch and swim routine) and questioning the viability of our stay. (Our dog is a 6 yr. old 50 lb. golden doodle, with a friendly disposition, but he raised last minute concerns she might need a muzzle based on a negative personal experience). Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long for the return call confirming our reservation would be honoured, but it was worrying that we might not have a place to stay so late in the day. There were no problematic incidents, and only friendly interactions with the people on-site, but if you have a dog, double-check that the pet friendly policy is still in place. We took the chance of allowing our dog a short swim, which she badly needed in the heat, and were lucky no one on site objected.
2. While it was necessary to turn on the in-room air conditioner, the noise was deafening, and made for a less than restful sleep.
3. The shelf in the bathroom was poorly designed and fell apart when I hung my toiletry case on it. It was easy to fix however, and I managed to remedy the problem. The shower curtain was not completely effective keeping water off the floor from the prefabricated bath and shower.
4. As someone who enjoys more than 15 minutes in the steam room, it was disappointing and perhaps not completely safe that no seating was provided, given it is otherwise such a great facility.
