Simpson Copper Mineshaft

Simpson Copper Mineshaft, on Hwy. 17 across from the Bruce Mines Museum, provides guided 30-minute tours of a restored pre-steam mineshaft. Displays include photographs and documents; mining equipment, including a horse-powered hoisting machine (horse whim); rocks; 1840s geology books; and replicas of the original 1848 mine office.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
