Sloman School on Wheels Museum

Sloman School on Wheels Museum, just off jct. Hwys. 4 and 8, following signs to 76 Victoria Terr. in Sloman Memorial Park, is the only one left of seven such CNR rail cars used to reach and teach children and adults living in isolated areas of northern Canada. Fred Sloman, one of the teachers, lived and traveled in this railway car 1926-65; his family lived with him for much of this time. Visitors see the schoolroom section as well as the living quarters in the renovated train car. Guided tours and video presentation about the car's history are offered.
