Hamilton Military Museum, 610 York Blvd., is part of Dundurn National Historic Site. Housed in Battery Lodge, it tells the story of those who lived in the area during the War of 1812 through documentary evidence, period artifacts and human stories. The Discovery Gallery and a film portray the life of a soldier. A medals exhibit and an extensive collection of military artifacts dating from the War of 1812, the Rebellion of 1837-38, the Boer War and World War I are displayed. A highlight is a diorama of a reconstructed World War I trench with artifacts and images revealing the impact of the war on those who fought in it.
Free with Dundurn National Historic Site. Museum $4; $3.50 (ages 13-17 and 60+); $3 (ages 6-12); $11.50 (family, two adults and all children).
Hours: Tues.-Sun. noon-4. Closed Jan. 1, Good Friday, July 1, Christmas and day after Christmas.
