Pleasant

Pros: Close to restaurants and had a pool, although it was fairly small and almost no chairs to sit on to watch our 8 year old. Room wasn't made up until late in the afternoon.
Cons: Seemed to be overpriced for what received.

An expensive hotel for what...
Pros: The room was large and the hotel location was close to the 401 highway. We appreciated the free Wi-fi.
Cons: The nightly rate was extremely expensive for the value received. Our room had a king-size bed and pullout couch. The bed was comfortable, pillows were abysmal, and the couch was not at all comfortable. Doors to the guest rooms were apparently not able to be closed without a bang as the outside handles could not be turned. When the people in our neighbouring room shut their door, the whole wall shook (at the head of the bed), along with hearing the over-the-top bang of their door. Mercifully this did not happen at a late hour or in the middle of the night. The breakfast room is not well laid out with dining furniture. Couches and non-dining chairs should be removed and replaced with dining tables & chairs so that people don't have to wait for a breakfast table. The "incidental" fee for damage or whatever it was for, was totally unexpected. It was a shock to see through our online banking on the Internet that the total amount for our stay, as taken immediately at check-in from our credit card was $100 more than the amount quoted to us by the hotel on the printed invoice. To be fair, this difference was reversed quite quickly after checking out of the hotel, but nonetheless it was very unexpected. We were told at the front desk that if we were to have paid for our room in cash instead of using a credit card, a $500 cash deposit would have been required to cover this incidental fee. This does not seem logical at all. During our trip we stayed at two other hotel chains that did not levy this incidental fee, or a marketing fee as described below. As well as the nightly accommodation fee, there was a "Destination Marketing Fee" (paid per night, with added tax) which we were told after-the-fact, was voluntary but nobody asked us if we wanted to participate. The front desk staff during our stay needed some guidance as to how to make guests feel welcome, and not like an inconvenience.
