AAA Editor Notes
Upper Canada Village, 11 km (7 mi.) e. on CR 2 off Hwy. 401, depicts life during the 1860s through an active and working community. Meet the tinsmith, shoemaker, baker, broommaker and other townsfolk. Among the buildings are a sawmill, an 1835 tavern, a steam-powered flour mill, two churches, a cabinetmaker's shop, a woolen mill, a bakery, three farms, a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop and a general store.

Costumed interpreters perform domestic, agricultural and commercial chores typical of the period. Horse-drawn wagon rides are available. A family activity center is open July 1 through Labour Day weekend. Private vehicles are not allowed in the village. The Battle of Crysler's Farm Visitor Centre, just outside the village, explains the 1813 victory by 800 British, Canadian and First Nations troops over far superior numbers of American soldiers.

Note: Seeing eye and hearing aid dogs are welcome. All other pets must be kept on a leash and may not enter historic buildings.

Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
