Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum, in the Longwoods Road Conservation Area at 8348 Longwoods Rd., 5 km (3 mi.) w. of Hwy. 402 exit 86, is a re-created village depicting southwestern Ontario Iroquoian culture of 1,000 years ago. The Oneida word ska-nah-doht means “a village stands again.” The Resource Centre has displays devoted to conservation and native culture. Nature trails wind through woods, and a boardwalk allows visitors to view the marsh area. Special events are scheduled throughout the year. Picnicking is permitted.
Victoria Day weekend-second Mon. in Oct. $3; $2 (ages 6-17). Rest of year by donation.
Hours: Grounds open daily 9-dusk. Ska-Nah-Doht village and Resource Centre open daily 9-4:30, Victoria Day weekend-second Mon. in Oct.; Mon.-Fri. 9-4:30, rest of year. Closed major holidays.
