AAA Editor Notes
Oil Museum of Canada, 1.5 km (.9 mi.) s. of Main St. and .5 km (.3 mi.) e. of CR 21 on Gum Bed Line, is on the site of North America's first commercial oil well. Exhibits depict the oil industry's first 100 years with drilling equipment, geological displays and an introductory DVD.

Outside are a reconstruction of the first commercial oil well, an 1889 railroad station, pioneer house, 1895 post office, steam drilling rig and pumping system. A driving tour past a working oil field has more than 400 wells with equipment dating from 1862. A gas storage exhibit features a 20-ton compressor pump once used by Union Gas. Also on the site are a playground and picnic pavilion. Special events are offered throughout the year.
