Central Experimental Farm, on the Driveway at Maple Dr., consists of 427 hectares (1,055 acres). Established in 1886, the farm is the headquarters and research station of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Flowerbeds, ornamental gardens, an arboretum and a tropical greenhouse are showcased, and various historical buildings are on the site. The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, 901 Prince of Wales Dr., features farm-related demonstrations and exhibits, and a variety of farm animals, including alpacas, cattle, pigs and Clydesdale horses. The museum also has bread and tractor exhibits.
Grounds free. Museum $10; $8 (ages 60+ and students with ID); $7 (ages 3-12); free (ages 0-2 and to all 4-5 p.m.); $26 (family, two adults and three children). Parking: $1 per half hour ($6 maximum per day).
Hours: Grounds open daily dawn-dusk. Museum open daily 9-5, Mar.-Oct.; Wed.-Sun. 9-5, rest of year. Closed Christmas.
