Royal Canadian Mint

Royal Canadian Mint, 320 Sussex Dr., offers 45-minute guided tours of the coin-manufacturing plant. Since 1976 foreign and domestic coinage have been produced in Winnipeg, but Ottawa continues to strike special commemorative coins, tokens, medals and bullion investment coins. Visit on a weekday to see the coin-making process on the production floor. The mold for a 99.999 percent pure gold coin weighing 100 kilograms (220 lbs.), worth a million dollars, is on display.
