Fabulous
Pros: Excellent location. Nice room. Fluffy towels, nice toiletries. Very Downton Abbey style, just expected the cast to cross the foyer, very Colonial, dated elegance. Staff very helpful and polite in hotel.
Cons: Restaurant a bit dark and dingy. The outside terrace was pretty poor. No flowers for atmosphere. Staff there much less responsive and aware what to do than the inside restaurant. Felt as if you were a bit of a hindrance to them, back in a few minutes with drinks ended up as 20 minutes.

Overall great stay.
Pros: Was greeted as soon as i got to the door by Jack. The valet guy was very friendly and helped us find the parking. We were very tired from our drive and our room was ready ahead of time. Called for room service and they rushed our food for us because we were starving. The next morning our server at the restaurant was very friendly and made sure we had a great breakfast even though we had to send back the eggs they weren’t done to our liking.
Cons: Our room ass on the first floor. The view wasnt very good. The door to the room was very difficult to open. The food from room service wasnt very good if i wasnt starving I wouldn’t be happy with it. The beef dip sandwich was salty and soggy .

Another fine stay at a...
Pros: Upon arrival, the front desk and bell hop staff made the check-in effortless, and were friendly and proficient. The maid service staff left many little touches around the room as they tidied each day. Everything was immaculate each evening upon my return to my room. I enjoyed looking at the small displays of historic photos on the ground floor and in the basement. The hotel is perfectly situated for your touristing and conferencing needs - in between the Parliament Buildings, Bytown area, and the Rideau Canal locks. The National Gallery (and visit to the Pub in the Park) are just a short walk away, with all the many other museums and galleries also not far away. My architecture conference in the Westin was just a quick 2min walk down the street. The Chateau Laurier is right in the centre of everything!
Cons: The first room I was given was not fully made up or cleaned - there was the previous inhabitant's bill/invoice paperwork, pepsi bottles, starbucks cups and unmade bed. The lounge is currently closed, so lounge and bar services are being provided in the dining room. While the staff were very friendly and attentive; and food was excellent, the dining room has very little in the way of a lounge atmosphere and was very poorly lit (dark!).
