Muskoka Lakes Museum, on CR 118 in Island Park at 100 Joseph St., presents the area's history through changing and permanent exhibits. Highlights include the Hall Family Homestead, a two-story log cabin built in 1875; antique wooden rowboats, canoes and marine artifacts; and such various antiques as glassware, china, furniture, tools, postcards, photographs and toys. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
$2.50; $2 (schoolchildren, students with ID and senior citizens); free (ages 0-5); $8 (family, two adults and two children).
Hours: Wed.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5, July-Aug.; Wed.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-4, Victoria Day weekend-June 30 and Sept. 1-second Mon. in Oct.; otherwise by appointment. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
