Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum, 280 King St., explores the area's marine heritage. Among the historic buildings on the grounds is an 1861 home with displays about Welland Canal history, maritime exhibits and other historical memorabilia. Other structures include an 1870 blacksmith shop, an 1850 log home, an 1820s schoolhouse, a carriage house and a 1913 cottage that serves as a tea room. A 1901 Neff Steam Buggy built in Humberstone also is displayed. Marine artifacts include a 1946 wheelhouse from a tugboat and a 50-person lifeboat. A research archives is on the museum's grounds.
