Science North is 2 km (1.2 mi.) from Hwy. 69; take Paris St. to Ramsey Lake Rd. This hands-on science center looks at science as it occurs in everyday life. Visitors can see a 4-D film with special sensory effects in an underground rock-walled cavern, touch live animals and explore the stars in a digital planetarium. Four object theaters present an array of topics in a fun and engaging atmosphere, while live science demonstrations are offered in the Discovery Theatre. A glass-enclosed butterfly gallery has hundreds of free-flying butterflies as well as flowering plants. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
Science center $21; $19 (ages 13-17 and 65+); $17 (ages 3-12). A combination ticket that includes Dynamic Earth and the IMAX theater is available. An additional fee may be charged for special exhibits. Parking: $5.
Hours: Daily 9-6, late June-late Sept.; 10-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1-14 and Christmas.
