South Simcoe Railway, 4 km (2.5 mi.) n. of Hwy. 9 on CR 10 to Mill St. W., offers narrated 55-minute tours through the scenic Beeton Creek Valley over 1870s railway lines in Ontario's only operating steam-powered trains. Passengers ride in 1920s open-window coaches pulled by coal-burning locomotives from 1883 and 1912. Special events include Easter bunny trains, fall color season and Santa trains.
Fare $13; $11 (ages 65+); $8 (ages 2-15); free (ages 0-1 on lap). Reservations required for special events only.
Hours: Departures Mon.-Tues. at 10:30, noon, 1:30 and 3, July-Aug.; Sun. and Mon. holidays (also the first three Sat. in Oct.) at 10:30, noon, 1:30 and 3, Victoria Day weekend-June 30 and Sept. 1-second Mon. in Oct.
