Ojibway Prairie Complex and Nature Centre is at 5200 Matchette Rd., just off Ojibway Pkwy. The 350-hectare (850-acre) natural area, which includes Tallgrass Prairie Heritage Park, Ojibway Park, Black Oak Heritage Park and Spring Garden Natural Area, protects one of the few remaining remnants of tallgrass prairie in eastern Canada. The complex has wetlands, forest, savannah and prairie habitats, rare plants, insects, reptiles, birds and mammals. Bird- and butterfly watching opportunities exist. Trail maps and exhibits about local wildlife and ecology are at the nature center.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
