Dogs for the Deaf is off I-5 exit 33; take Biddle Rd. .25 mi. e. to Table Rock Rd., go 8 mi. n., w. on Wheeler Rd. at mile marker 10, then .25 mi. w. to 10175 Wheeler Rd. This national nonprofit agency, which trains dogs to assist the deaf, hearing impaired and children on the autism spectrum, offers tours and demonstrations. Visitors can watch dogs being taught to alert their masters based on various sounds.
Tours also include a 15-minute video and a visit to the kennels where the dogs live during 4-6 months of intensive training.
Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
