Sumpter Valley Railroad departs from the McEwen Depot at 12259 Huckleberry Loop Rd. and from Sumpter Station in Sumpter at 211 Austin St. The railroad offers 6-mile, 40-minute one-way tours as well as 12-mile round-trip tours from both stations. Steam trains traverse the historic and scenic gold-mining district and wildlife habitat west of Baker City that was created after gold dredging was discontinued. McEwen Day Park features picnic facilities and nature trails. Special event train rides include train robberies and night trains, and extra rides are offered holiday weekends and during fall, winter and the Christmas season; phone for details.
Note: Tickets are available at McEwen Depot and Sumpter Station only when the stations are open for trip departures.
