World Forestry Center Discovery Museum is at 4033 S.W. Canyon Rd. in Washington Park, off US 26; taking MAX Light Rail is a convenient alternative to driving. The museum has hands-on, interactive exhibits that engage visitors to learn about the forests and trees of the world. Highlights include a smoke jumping simulator and a canopy bridge allowing visitors to see the trees from a bird's-eye view. Under a shelter next to the museum building stands "Peggy," a restored, 42-ton steam locomotive built in 1909 for hauling massive logs.
