Fort Stevens Historical Area and Visitor Center is off US 101 at 100 Peter Iredale Rd. within Fort Stevens State Park. The area includes displays of military vehicles and weapons. Visitors can tour the inside of a 1911 war games building, various gun batteries, the only earthen Civil War-era fortification west of the Mississippi and a 1911 guardhouse. During the summer guided tours of the entire installation are offered in a 1952 military truck; underground tours of Battery Mishler also are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Museum by donation. Underground Battery Mishler tour $4; $2 (ages 4-12). Army truck tour $5; $3 (ages 4-12). Parking: $5.
