Clyde Peeling's Reptiland, 6 mi. n. of I-80 exit 210B on US 15, provides close-up views of more than 40 species of alligators, tortoises, lizards and frogs. Some of the snake species included are cobras, mambas, pythons and vipers. Komodo dragons and Aldabra tortoises are on display in a naturalistic habitat. Visitors can watch live presentations about reptiles as well as keeper talks and feedings. Behind-the-Scenes tours provide a look at the care facility, handling procedures and animal husbandry. Seasonal parakeet and dinosaur exhibits and other special events also are offered. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Apr.-Oct. $16; $14 (ages 3-11). Rest of the year $14; $12 (ages 3-11). Behind-the-scenes tour $120 (for up to 4 people); $30 each additional person; must be 12 and over for tour. Reservations are required for tours.
Hours: Daily 9-6, Memorial Day weekend-Labor Day; daily 10-5 (also Sat.-Sun. 5-6), Apr. 1-Friday before Memorial Day and day after Labor Day-Oct. 31; daily 10-5, rest of year. Live shows take place at 10:30, noon, 1:30, 3 and 4:30. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
