Brandywine Battlefield Park embraces 50 acres along the n. side of US 1, 1 mi. e. of Creek Rd. The Battle of Brandywine was fought nearby Sept. 11, 1777. This defeat of the American forces under George Washington left Philadelphia open to advancing British troops. The visitor center contains exhibits about the battle. A reproduction of the farmhouse used by Washington as a headquarters is on the grounds can only be seen on guided tours. An 18-minute video presentation features a re-enactment of the battle.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
